I just ordered a digital microscope so I can better assess the quality of the weed I buy. It won't be here until next week but I figured I'd ask here if anyone has any microscope pictures of blasted/washed buds so I know what to look for.

I tried googling and didn't have any luck. I know what normal tichomes look like and I can only assume seeing bad weed is going to be obvious, but a pic would definitely help

A microscope is definitely a great way of telling. If it's only washed once, deep crystals will still be present so you will want to look for the outer/tip trichomes. If crystals/trichomes are heavily visible with budget buds, you will also want to rub it against the backside of a CD to see if it scratches it (test for the presence of glass particles). Small nugs and buds that are not sticky whatsoever are also more likely to be washed. Potency is always a great way of being able to tell as well if you're experienced with flower, smoking washed flower will greatly lack in potency since the wash removes around and sometimes more than half of the present THC. Companies that make their own CO2 and Butane extracts, as well as flower, are more likely to do this as well since they will not want to waste the 'leftovers' after the wash. For example BCBud.Store does this and labels the flower as being washed if it is!

Yeah OK I can see reasons why they would add glass, it just didn't really have to do with my question, but I guess it does fall in the grand family of bad things that could happen to weed. I'd be extremely shocked to find glass in weed from any dispensary, sounds like a pretty ghetto back alley shit thing to do lol.

As for washed stuff, I mean I was aiming wide and trying to include all possible extractions, be it water icing it, butane extraction, shaking it over screens, etc. Saw a documentary a while back on Vice that showed actual Canadian LP's handling weed (grand scale) and they were tumbling the buds in some kind of big container with tiny holes in it. They never explained what it was, I assume it was either a mechanical trimmer or some kind of apparatus to remove as much kief as possible. Anyways, I was a bit shocked to see a LP do that, I can only assume some of the MOM's out there are doing worse.

Can't wait to put some of them buds under the microscope I'll report back hehe.

It's one of the MANY forms of contaminated cannabis and is done mainly for 2 reasons:
1 - Make it slightly heavier
2 - Looks like it has more crystals / shiny = better bag appeal

I would assume it's not common practice among MOMs but with budget buds it's always good to double check and be safe! Saving is valuable but not at the cost of your health!

The texture would be super dry..
Aside that the smell will be faint, or colour fading can be very visible as well

I have seen a few pounds in the past from extraction labs, but just basing off my few experiences seeing

Someone should post some pics. so we all could know what to look for.

Just got my microscope. Based on what I read I don't think any of the weed I have is washed though.

Updated my review with microscope pictures... They look fine IMHO and heck the pictures pretty much match their potency/quality, lol.

Generally Butane, Propane and Alcohol do very well at dissolving whats in the plant. CO2 is the only one that i have seen visible trichomes still on the plant after blasting. Blasted weed is very dry, smells like shit and often tastes like shit. The chance u got blasted weed or will ever get blasted weed are super super slim. If the weed looks like shit and is nice and moist or well grown, it was most likely bumped for keif not blasted.
